President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Shot Guard Members to the Presidential Residence
Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to come to the executive mansion.
He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.
Background on the Tragic Incident
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Vigils across the state have occurred in their remembrance.
Presidential Offer
The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump informed the press. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Response
Mourners came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid law enforcement in the capital.
Honoring the Soldier
“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors hoped for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the press. “She was caring, considerate and always ready to assist people.”
Funeral arrangements for Sarah are still being arranged.
Judicial Actions and Policy Adjustments
Officials have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The event prompted the Trump administration to suspend asylum processing and halt issuing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.
Condition of the Airman
Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey said on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to visit his relatives.
Legacy of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey addressed the gathering at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
